The Secretariats of the Convention on Wetlands and Convention on Biological Diversity invite you to join the side event on MEA synergies for wetland biodiversity and water.

With a focus on wetlands/inland water biodiversity, the event will address synergy between MEAs in implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Specifically, the event seeks to:

• enhance awareness of the need for ambitious action to halt wetland loss and scale up protection and restoration towards achievement of global biodiversity, climate change and sustainable development targets;
• sensitize contracting parties and other stakeholders about the 6th Joint Work Plan of CBD and the Convention on Wetlands;
• support inclusion of wetland targets and measures in National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs); and
• showcase efforts by contracting parties to address MEA synergies in national planning and implementation.
