2nd Governing bodies meeting of Senegal River Basin Initiative (SenegalWet)

Ramsar Regional Initiative SenegalWet held a meeting of its governing bodies from 9 to 10 April 2018 in Conakry, Guinea. This was a follow up meeting after an earlier conference held 15 - 16 February 2017 in Dakar to validate Initiative’s governing bodies, communication tools, statutes and rules of procedure.

The meeting was organized under the chairmanship of Mrs. Assiatou Baldé, Minister of Environment and Forests of Republic of Guinea. The purpose of meeting was to validate SENEGALWET's Strategic Plan, Sustainable Financing Facility and Manual of Administrative, Financial and Accounting Procedures.

The Ramsar Secretariat proposed to bring SenegalWet strategic plan into line with the strategic plan of the Ramsar Convention. In addition, several actions including capacity building, support to undertake RAMs, implementation of sub regional actions were also advised. Development of a science-policy dialogue which would provide an opportunity for sharing latest information, knowledge and best practices as well as building partnerships among professionals in trans-boundary water resources management was also discussed.
