15th meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Convention on Wetlands
The Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands presents its compliments to the Permanent Missions and Administrative Authorities of the Contracting Parties to the Convention, and has the honour to share with them the dates, venue, and provisional agenda for the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties (COP15), as well as the indicative timetable for submission of draft resolutions for consideration at COP15.
The Secretariat is pleased to confirm that COP15 will be held in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, from 23 to 31 July 2025, with the 65th meeting of the Standing Committee (SC65) scheduled for 23 July and regional meetings for 23 and 24 July.
The provisional agenda for COP15, which was approved by the Standing Committee at its 62nd meeting in September 2023, is attached along with the present Note.
Submission of draft resolutions for consideration at COP15
The Secretariat draws the attention of Contracting Parties to Rule 5.1 of the Rules of Procedure of the Conference of the Contracting Parties, concerning the submission of draft resolutions. The deadline for submission is 60 days before the final Standing Committee meeting that can approve such draft resolutions for consideration by the Conference of the Parties.
That meeting (SC64) is expected to take place six months before COP15, around January 2025, in accordance with the indicative schedule approved through Resolution XIV.2 on Responsibilities, roles and composition of the Standing Committee and regional categorization of countries under the Convention on Wetlands. The Standing Committee has decided that dates for SC64 will be decided at its next meeting, SC63. Therefore, the deadline for the submission of draft resolutions to be considered at COP15 is expected to be in November 2024.
