Date: 07.11.2023
To: Administrative Authorities and National Focal Points
Please find below a communication from the Chair of the Youth Working Group (Australia) on the fourth meeting of the Working Group.
To: Heads of Administrative Authorities and National Focal Points of the Contracting Parties of the Convention on Wetlands,
I would like to invite you to participate in the fourth meeting of the Youth Working Group (YWG) of the Convention on Wetlands scheduled to take place on 30 November 2023, 13:00 to 15:00 CET.
In the third meeting of the YWG, the draft workplan of the YWG as mandated by Resolution XIV.12 was introduced and members of the YWG were requested to provide comments by 8 October 2023. I would like to extend my thanks to those who have provided feedback.
In the fourth meeting, the YWG is planning to have an in-depth discussion on the draft workplan and its four thematic areas to successfully produce an inclusive and robust workplan as per the mandates of Resolution XIV.12. Hence, all Contracting Parties are invited to participate in this meeting. Discussions shall be divided into three parts:
-
Presentation on a thematic area (10 min);
-
Break-out room sessions to reflect on the presented thematic area;
-
Summary of discussions from each break-out room session.
At my request the Secretariat has reached out to few members of the YWG asking for their availability to present on different thematic areas in the draft workplan. A presenter is still needed for Theme 2. If you are interested in presenting this theme then please contact the Secretariat at asia.oceania@ramsar.org by 16 November 2023, and further guidelines for the presentation will be provided. The draft workplan is attached to this communication for your reference.
Please note that to facilitate the discussion, breakout rooms may be divided into three language groups of the Convention (English, French, Spanish), provided that there are enough participants from each language speaking region.
