Extension of deadline for the submission of proposals on strengthening the process to include a Site on the Ramsar List

Further to the call for "Proposals to strengthen the process of including a site on the Ramsar List" issued by the Secretariat on 17 October 2023, the Secretariat has received six submissions. No submissions have been received from Contracting Parties in the Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean and Oceania regions.
The deadline is therefore extended until 1 December 2023. Submissions should be made by email to secretariat@ramsar.org.

Pursuant to Standing Committee Decision SC62-55, the Secretariat invites Contracting Parties to submit to the Secretariat proposals on strengthening the process to include a Site on the List of Wetlands of International Importance.
Based on the submissions made by Contracting Parties, the Secretariat will prepare a report to be presented to the 63rd meeting of the Standing Committee accompanied by the opinion of the Legal Advisor.
Contracting Parties are requested to submit their proposals by email to secretariat@ramsar.org, no later than 24 November 2023.
When preparing submissions, Contracting Parties are invited to provide general observations on the process, identify potential challenges, and include concrete proposals for strengthening the process.
Furthermore, pursuant to Standing Committee Decision SC62-53, the Secretariat invites interested Contracting Parties to provide inputs on the challenges and opportunities related to the submission and updating of Ramsar Information Sheets. The information provided by Contracting Parties on this matter will be summarized by the Secretariat in consultation with the Scientific and Technical Review Panel (STRP) and presented to Contracting Parties and other stakeholders through an online session for further discussion, towards the preparation of a report of the Secretariat for consideration at the 63rd meeting of the Standing Committee.
