Invitation to host the 16th meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties
The Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands presents its compliments to the Permanent Missions and Administrative Authorities of the Contracting Parties to the Convention and has the honour to draw attention to the following information regarding the hosting of the 16th meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Convention.
The 15th meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties will be held from 23 to 31 July 2025, hosted by the Republic of Zimbabwe in Victoria Falls.
At that meeting, in accordance with Rule 3.1 of the Rules of Procedure, the Contracting Parties will decide which country will be the host of the 16th meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties. This decision shall be based on a formal invitation received from a potential host country.
In accordance with the same rule, any such invitation should be issued by the Head of State or Government or Cabinet, or the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the potential host country. Formal invitations should be provided to the Secretariat in writing. They should preferably include a hosting rationale, the proposed location and venue, and suggested financial resources as appropriate to support the event.
The deadline for the submission of invitations to host the 16th meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties is one month before the conclusion of the 15th meeting, that is on 30 June 2025.
Contracting Parties interested in submitting an invitation to host the 16th meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties are invited to inform the Secretariat of their interest in advance of submitting a formal invitation. The Secretariat can then provide them with a sample host country agreement and provisional statement of requirements, which is an integral part of the Host Country Agreement.
The Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands respectfully avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Permanent Missions and Administrative Authorities of the Contracting Parties to the Convention the assurance of its highest consideration.
