The 64th meeting of the Standing Committee of the Convention on Wetlands
20-24 January 2025
 
 
 
The Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands presents its compliments to the Permanent Missions and Administrative Authorities of the Contracting Parties to the Convention and has the honour to provide information regarding the upcoming 64th meeting of the Standing Committee.
 
The meeting (SC64) is scheduled to take place from 20 to 24 January 2025 at the Secretariat headquarters in Gland, Switzerland. Plenary sessions of SC64 will take place from Tuesday 21 to Friday 24 January, preceded by meetings of the Committee’s sub-groups and working groups on Monday 20 January.
 
Simultaneous interpretation in the three official languages of the Convention will be provided for the plenary sessions of the meeting.
 
The provisional agenda is available on the Convention website at: https://www.ramsar.org/meeting/64th-meeting-standing-committee. Links to documents will be added to the agenda as they are published, in accordance with the Rules of Procedure.
 
Membership of the Standing Committee, its subgroups and working groups is accessible on the Convention website at: https://www.ramsar.org/current-standing-committee-2023-2025-members.
 
Contracting Parties that are not members of the Standing Committee may attend as observers, as well as States that are not Contracting Parties but have expressed an interest in acceding to the Convention (Resolution XIV.2 on Responsibilities, roles and composition of the Standing Committee and regional categorization of countries under the Convention on Wetlands, Annex 1, paragraph 12).
 
Registration for SC64 will open on 15 September 2024. The registration link will be available on the SC64 webpage.
 
Contracting Parties are encouraged to promote gender parity in their delegations, in accordance with the provisions of Resolution XIII.18 on Gender and wetlands in planning their participation in the meeting.
 
Financial support is available to cover the travels costs of one Standing Committee representative of Contracting Parties which are on the OECD’s DAC list of aid recipient countries, upon request. Financial support is not available for representatives of observer States.
 
Contracting Parties unable to attend the meeting as observers are invited to communicate their position on issues to the Standing Committee representative(s) of their region.
