Call for nomination - CEPA Oversight Panel for the 2025-2028 triennium

Following the adoption of Resolution XIV.8 on the new CEPA approach at the 14th meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties (COP14), and the Standing Committee’s approval of the proposal of the Secretariat on the future operations of the CEPA Oversight Panel in Decision SC63-24, the Secretariat invites nominations of members of the CEPA Oversight Panel for the 2025-2028 triennium.

Panel composition

The Panel is to be comprised of 10 to 15 members with balanced regional representation and a diverse range of expertise. The Panel should include:

•    Two CEPA Government Focal Points;
•    Two CEPA NGO Focal Points;
•    An Indigenous Peoples representative; and
•    A youth representative.

Contracting Parties are invited to nominate individuals for the above positions. Note that the working language of the Panel will be English.

In addition to the members listed above, a Contracting Party will be selected to represent each of the six regions on the CEPA Oversight Panel. These regional representatives will be identified by Contracting Parties during the regional meetings that will take place during COP15.

The Panel will also include:

•    A representative of the International Organization Partners (IOPs); and
•    An STRP representative.

The Secretariat will liaise with the IOPs and the STRP to select their respective representatives.

Nomination process

At its first meeting following COP15, or intersessionally following COP15, the Standing Committee will approve the composition of the CEPA Oversight Panel. For more information on the functions, membership, nomination procedures and modus operandi of the Panel, please refer to document SC63 Doc.17.2.

The Secretariat requests that Parties submit nominations for the non-Contracting Party representatives noted above by 30 May to secretariat@ramsar.org using the attached nomination form.
