Extension of the employment contract of the Secretary General of the Convention on Wetlands
The Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands presents its compliments to the Permanent Missions and Administrative Authorities of the Contracting Parties to the Convention, and has the honour to inform the Contracting Parties that the Standing Committee of the Convention met in a closed session on 18 March 2025.
During the session, the Standing Committee proposed to extend Dr Musonda Mumba’s employment contract as the Secretary General of the Convention on Wetlands for a second term from 1 October 2025 to 31 December 2028, and to submit this proposal to the Director General of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) for her consideration.
Following the approval of the Director General of IUCN, Dr Mumba’s employment contract has been extended to 31 December 2028.
