The Secretariat is pleased to announce that information materials to support outreach activities for World Wetlands Day on 2 February 2026 are now available to download online at www.worldwetlandsday.org. Next year’s campaign centres on the theme "Wetlands and traditional knowledge: Celebrating cultural heritage." The campaign spotlights the timeless role of traditional knowledge in sustaining wetland ecosystems and preserving cultural identity, highlighting the deep-rooted connections between wetlands and the cultural traditions and practices of communities around the world. A campaign toolkit has been developed to facilitate a coordinated global communications campaign in 2026 and it includes key messages and ideas for how to get involved. Other resources available to download on the website include: - A campaign poster;
- Infographic sheets that underscore key facts tied to the theme;
- A comprehensive PowerPoint presentation which offers information on traditional knowledge and its role in sustaining wetlands and cultural heritage;
- Social media cards providing simple, visually engaging messages that present the key messages of the campaign;
- Also available to download is a colouring poster for children, a T-shirt design, logos and InDesign files to facilitate translation into languages other than English, French and Spanish.
Visit the website to explore these resources in support of World Wetlands Day and its mission to recognise that traditional knowledge bridges wisdom from the past to present and future stewardship of these vital ecosystems. |
