Notification

Following the adoption of the resolution on the future implementation of scientific and technical aspects of the Convention for 2025-2028 at the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Convention on Wetlands (COP15), the Convention Secretariat wishes to share the following information to facilitate a timely process for nominating members of the Scientific and Technical Review Panel (STRP) for the 2025-2028 triennium:

• Resolution XII.5 New framework for delivery of scientific and technical advice and guidance on the Convention defines modalities for the STRP, including its structure and the process for selecting panel members. The panel has 18 members, six scientific members as well as 12 technical expert members of which six are regional expert representatives.
• Contracting Parties are hereby invited to submit nominations for scientific and technical experts, including for the STRP Chair and Vice-Chair. Contracting Parties are reminded that Administrative Authorities from each region should reach agreement among themselves and nominate one technical expert representative for their region, who will be accepted automatically.
• International Organization Partners (IOPs) and Observer Organizations listed in Annex 3 of the draft resolution on the future implementation of scientific and technical aspects of the Convention for 2025–2028 are also invited to submit nominations for scientific and technical experts. IOPs and observer organizations should use the same forms to nominate their respective representatives to the STRP.

The nomination process for STRP members will proceed as follows:

• All nominations should be submitted using the online form available at:
  https://contacts.ramsar.org/strp-nomination 
• Each nomination must include:
  • nomination letter signed by the head of the respective Administrative Authority or, in the case of IOPs and Observers, by the organization’s Convention focal point;
  • completed nominee form; and
  • curriculum vitae of the nominee.
• Templates for these documents can be downloaded via the nomination portal.

Contracting Parties, IOPs, and Observer Organizations are encouraged to consider the attached approved STRP Thematic Work Areas and prioritized tasks when making nominations.

The deadline for submitting nominations is 29 August 2025. Kindly submit nominations by this date in order to ensure a timely appointment process and initiation of the STRP’s 2025–2028 work programme.
